WHAT IS DAVIDSON PLUM?

Indigenous Australians have enjoyed the Native Organic Davidson Plum or Ooray raw for tens of thousands of years. The sour red-fleshed bush fruit is high in antioxidants and vitamins. The dark burgundy bush fruit has a naturally high amount of anthocyanins, an antioxidant higher than blueberries. It promotes overall health and prevents diseases, and it is believed to have anti-aging properties. The intake of Davidson plum in small amounts also provides similar benefits. The plum is an excellent source of potassium, Vitamin E, lutein, zinc, folate, calcium, and magnesium.

Native to the Subtropical Northern river areas of New South Wales and the tropical rainforests of Queensland. Davidson Plum grew naturally for thousands of years before European settlement saw the destruction and deforestation of the rainforest to make way for farmland. Thankfully, some ancient trees survived in small isolated parts of subtropical rainforests, private land, and national parks. Today growing sites for the native fruit trees still face competition from livestock grazing. Gradually this is changing as the everyday Aussie wakes up to the benefits of Native Australian bush fruits that seem to have been overlooked by the Earlier Settlers.

Untamed Health started with a simple idea: providing organic food that gives back. But not just any ordinary organic food – it had to taste extraordinary. It had to be unique and, it had to involve chocolate. We asked ourselves: "What can we do differently?"

Then it clicked. We had the idea of creating organic, ethically sourced chocolate bars using native Australian bush fruits – something that hasn't been done before. Better still, we decided to donate 5% of all profits to worthwhile causes that benefit Indigenous Australian and Torres Strait Islander communities.

After years of researching, careful planning and sourcing the finest sustainable ingredients, we've finally nailed it – creating three mouth-wateringly smooth organic milk chocolate bars, two of which include tantalising native bush fruits sourced from tropical and sub-tropical rainforests along Australia's East Coast.
